The Graduate Student Programs at CTLT are free to UBC graduate students.  We kick off this September with four days of seminars led by trained and experienced facilitators, many of who are also graduate students.  Our Graduate Student Teaching Refresher series of seminars runs Tuesday September 4th – Friday September 7th.  Join us as we explore a range of higher education teaching and learning topics, focused on your professional development!

Register soon — workshops begin September 4 and they fill up fast!

Details:
We run two annual seminar series for graduate students focused on refreshing the basics of teaching (in September) and growing as a teacher in higher education (in the spring).  Whether you are a new graduate student with your first TA assignment, a skilled veteran, or maybe wanting to learn about topics you hear discussed in the hallways, all are welcome, and all will benefit!
Sessions in this September’s Refresher Series touch on the foundations of teaching and learning and include the development of learning objectives and lesson planning, active learning in small and large classes, and classroom assessment techniques.  You can explore ways to evolve your classroom community through diversity and inclusivity and adult learning.  Discover how to transfer your skills as a student to your teaching practice as a TA and learn to work with faculty in your TA role.
Attend 6 of the sessions of the Refresher Series and receive a certificate of completion.
The refresher series is coordinated through Graduate Student Programs in CTLT at UBC.  You may also be interested in our other professional development offerings such as the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) and Presentation Skills Workshop (PSW).  You can find out more at http://ctlt.ubc.ca/programs/graduate-student-ta-programs/
