Registration Open: Changing Times, Inspiring Libraries (MLIS, DUAL, PhD)

December 6th (evening) & December 7th 2012.

Leading Libraries Start with Community

A changing economy, a more diverse culture, a new information landscape; today’s citizen needs more knowledge, more quickly and from more sources than ever before, and they will be coming to libraries to get it. Will we be ready? Keynote speaker David Lankes makes it clear that libraries can and should be more than we expect, and shows how to get there.

Where does library innovation start? It begins when we reach past the traditional roles of the library. It begins when we reach into our community, engaging, understanding and better serving its needs. It begins when we reach out, creating partnerships and connections that strengthen the economic, social and creative life of the patrons we serve.

It begins when we start to expect more: from ourselves, from our libraries, and for the future of our communities.

If you expect more and want to explore the possibilities of innovation, join David Lankes, Ken Roberts, Andrew Petter and community and library leaders from across B.C. to examine how libraries can become the heart of a flexible, healthy community at the Changing Times, Inspiring Libraries Summit
