Call for Papers: Copyright Conference, May 2014

The 2014 ABC Copyright Conference, co-hosted by Camosun College and the University of Victoria, will take place May 26 – May 27, 2014 at the University of Victoria Campus. The theme for the conference is Jumping off the Leg(islation). The spirit behind this theme is moving forward in our new Canadian copyright environment – methods, issues, and ideas.

We are seeking proposals for conference presentations.

Here are some topics for consideration:

  • Updates (e.g. Copyright Board, court decisions, guidelines, etc.)
  • Digitization (e.g. archiving/preservation, publishing online, etc.)
  • Vendor licensing
  • emerging technologies
  • MOOCs
  • Course materials delivery (ARES, Fair Dealing Guidelines, UBC product/service proposals, etc.)
  • Social Media
  • Media Issues (e.g. Streaming, use of images, music, etc.)
  • Mashups
  • copyright literacy

This is not an exhaustive list, and we are open to submissions on other copyright-related issues which may be of interest. Presentations may be of any length, and we will incorporate several presentations into one session if necessary.

Please send submission to copyrite@uvic.ca . The deadline is December 13th, 2013.

Please contact the UVic Copyright Office if you have any questions.
