Call for Proposals Workshop for Instruction in Library Use (WILU) 2014

The WILU Program Committee invites proposals to be considered for presentation at WILU 2014, to be held at Western University in London, Ontario from May 21-23, 2014. WILU originated at Western in 1972 and returns to the Forest City in 2014 inviting you to “E-magine the Possibilities”.

Ever-changing educational environments create limitless possibilities for innovation by information literacy librarians. We invite presentation proposals that consider various methods of instruction, different aspects of e-learning, assessment techniques, or multiliteracies.

Share the new IL opportunities you’ve uncovered through e-learning, discuss how your instruction program is e-volving or reflect on how IL instruction is now e-valuated at your institution. You can even choose to be bold and e-magine the future of information literacy for academic libraries! Deadline for proposal submissions is December 9, 2013.

Session opportunities exist for presentations (45 minutes), Ignite Talks (5 minutes), posters (60 minutes) and pre-conference workshops (2.5 hours).

For a full description of each session type, and for the link to the WILU 2014 proposal submission form, please visit:  http://lib.uwo.ca/wilu2014

WILU 2014 is sponsoring a special award for the best accepted proposal submission from a current student enrolled in an ALA-Accredited (or equivalent) Master’s Program in Library and Information Studies at the time of submission. This award is intended to support students who have submitted proposals in any of the following conference formats: Presentation Session, Ignite Talk, or Poster Session. The amount of this award is up to $500 (CAD). This amount is intended to cover registration and or travel to WILU 2014. Please see the “Student Award” page for eligibility and application details.

Potential presenters will be notified by February 14, 2014. All presenters are responsible for their own registration, travel and accommodation.

The Program Committee will employ a double blind selection process in which all identifying information in the proposal, including the presenters’ names, institution and contact information, will be excluded. Proposals will be evaluated based on originality, practicality, relevance to the conference theme, and contribution to the field.

Questions? Please email one of the Program Committee co-chairs, Debbie Meert-Williston dmeertwi@uwo.ca or Nazi Torabi ntorabi@uwo.ca
